What is a compound melody?
 
  a. When one theme simultaneously suggests at least two melodic strands.
  b. When a melody is played in imitation by several voices with each entrancestarting before the previous voice concludes its statement.
 c. When the sounds of two voices are staggered by the careful placement ofrests, combining to create one melodic line.
 d. When multiple pre-existent tunes are brought together and sound at thesame time or in immediate succession.
