Answer: The ideal answer will include:
1. Deductive research starts with a hypothesis and gathers relevant (etic) data.
2. It is more likely to focus on fieldwork that incorporates quantitative data.
3. Inductive research does not begin with a hypothesis and is more open-ended in its goals.
4. It uses emic dataderived from what insiders say and believe about their culture rather than external categories.
