Consider the example in the text of position effect variegation (PEV) affecting eye color in Drosophila.  You identify a fruit fly that has a second mutation affecting its histone acetyltransferase (HAT) gene.  This mutation results in the loss of histone acetylation activity.

What is the likely result of this second mutation in terms of eye color of the organism?  (Will the eyes be more red, more white, or unaffected?)   Why?
