When seeds are planted, what is the biological or chemical reaction that happens that makes a plant? Almost any soil, conditions, as long as there is enough moisture or water to support life. The tiny seed has some kind of code that is programmed that makes that particular plant have it's characteristics. We don't think about it, but it is a miraculous event.

Some seeds wait for water, or a flash of sunlight, or a surge of nutrients before they germinate.

The variety of plant life is astonishing, and studying it could lead to many different areas.  Botany is the science covering the study of the biology of plants.  Biochemistry would be the chemical reactions occurring in living organisms.

Germination is the term used to describe the emergence of the plant from its seed.  It is controlled by chemical processes that allow the seed to determine when is the best time to emerge.   Moisture, temperature, light and darkness and other conditions control seed germination.

Plant physiology is the study of the life processes of plants.

The molecule that carries the code of the plant, is known as DNA.

Here are two links to start your exploration of this wondrous, awe-inspiring subject.

It is just a nature miracle. A sunflower seed is a plant in potential. In the soil, warm and moisture open the coded signal for life.

With the perfect temperature, water, soil nutrients and light needed by that species, seeds will GERMINATE. New growth will occur, with the endosperm of the seed providing necessary carbohydrates-starches, oils, misc nutrients for the new cell growth until the plant is capable of making its own from its own photosynthesis and cell respiration.

First, a non-green baby root or hypocotyl with grow downward into the soil,
Second a green baby pre-stem or epicotyl will grow upwards.

Then we're on a role.....new growth excellerates:
the first seed leaf-ves is-are the cotyledon(s)
