Title: World's first edible water-bottle Written by: duddy on Apr 25, 2014 (https://biology-forums.com/gallery/47/4_25_04_14_4_57_20.jpeg) (https://biology-forums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=16044) A team of scientist are working to create an edible water-bottle. Rodrigo González and his team first took a frozen ball of water and dipped it into a calcium chloride solution, which formed a gelatinous layer. Then, the ball soaked in another solution made from brown algae extract, which encapsulated the ice in a second squishy membrane to reinforce the structure. Keeping the water in the algae solution for long periods of time allows the mold to become thicker and stronger. Comments: It also looks very frail and small. Disgusting Written by: 3sp on Oct 12, 2018 If you don't put it on a clean surface, it's probably not the best idea to just eat it up... The idea is good, but I'm afraid it lacks practical use.
