The explanation for phloem transport that says sieve-tube elements near source tissues have higher solute contents while sieve-tube elements near sink tissues have a lower solute concentration. Water that contains solutes moves from phloem into sink tissues. The resulting water pressure difference drives the bulk flow of phloem sap from source to sink tissues.
