A sequence of three nucleotide bases that specifies a particular amino acid or a stop codon; codons function during translation.


A set of three adjacent nucleotides in mRNA that base-pair with the corresponding anticodon of tRNA molecule that carries a particular amino acid, hence, specifying the type and sequence of amino acids for protein synthesis.


A continuous triplet of mRNA that specifies a particular aminoacid.
