1) A condition characterized by lower than normal levels of hemoglobin, which reduces the amount of oxygen that can be stored in the blood.
2) A large group of conditions characterized by a reduction in the number of red blood cells or the amount of hemoglobin in the blood; results in less oxygen reaching the tissues.
