Transcription in the nucleus..
Does
a) DNA make a single strand mRNA molecule?
b) DNA replicate an exact copy of itself?

DNA is used as a template, it doesn't "make" anything.

It is an "exact" copy, but the thymine is replaced with a uracil.

But transcription does occur in the nucleus right? Not in the cytoplasm or at ribosomes?

In eukaryotes, transcription takes place in the nucleus. Then, translation takes place outside the nucleus, in the cytoplasm.
