The primary driving force for glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is blood pressure opposed by fluid pressure in the Bowman's capsule as well as colloid osmotic pressure due to plasma proteins. With an increase in plasma proteins, the plasma has higher than normal colloid osmotic pressure. With more colloid osmotic pressure opposing GFR, GFR decreases.
