When 24K gold is scanned under X-Ray in custom department, it shows black color on the screen.  I would like to know on how X-Ray works on detecting metal, and why does it show black color on screen?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

An X-ray machine is basically like a camera. It uses X-rays to expose the film, instead of visible light.

X-rays are similar to light in that they are electromagnetic waves, but they are more energetic so they can penetrate many materials to varying degrees. When the X-rays hit the film, they expose it just as light would. Various structures such as bone, fat, muscle, tumors and all other masses absorb X-rays at different levels, the image on the film lets you view distinct structures inside the body because of the different levels of exposure on the film.

The black areas are the exposed areas, representing the rays that passed through the soft tissue, while the white areas are the unexposed areas, where the rays were absorbed by tissue.

Would this concept reverse?
Thanks you very much for any suggestions :>

I suppose, because if you're seeing all black on the screen where Gold is, those rays aren't being absorbed, but reflected... But at the same time, when we take X-rays at the clinic, our bones are white, while our flesh is clear (or black). The rays can easily pass through flesh, but not bone...
