Gene etoh-1 is induced in yeast cells when treated with high levels of ethanol. A mutation in region 1 located in the upstream cis acting regulatory region of etoh-1 results in high-level RNA transcription, and a mutation in region 2 results in increase in transcription.
How are the regions functioning normally in yeast to regulate gene expression? In other words, how are the mutations changing the normal function. Assume normal function is the opposite of the mutated function.
a) Draw out a hypothetical reporter plasmid containing the regulatory sequences for luciferase reporter experiment.
b) Graph out the hypothetical results showing the relative luminescence under each condition.
