Epistasis is when two or more genes (on different loci) influence the phenotype. In other words, it is when genetic loci do not work independently but rather in combination: the effect of one genetic locus depends on what an individual has inherited at another genetic locus. Therefore, if something does not exhibit an epistatic relationship, it doesn't fit this model.
