Dada is an anti-art style (early 20th century) that was a disillusioned reaction against the horrors of World War I. The word dada is French for hobbyhorse, but the Dadaists accepted it as two nonsense syllables, like one of a baby’s first words. Dada was as much a political protest as an art movement.
