1. A radioactive gas that occurs naturally and is a result of the decay of uranium and thorium in soil, rock, or water. Once released, the gas seeps up from the ground and can infiltrate the basements of buildings through pipes and cracks in foundations.
2. A highly toxic, radioactive gas that is colorless and undetectable without specialized kits.
