The process of synthesizing a specific polypeptide on a ribosome; a nucleotide sequence in mRNA is used to make an amino acid sequence of a polypeptide. The process of translation occurs in three stages: initiation, elongation, and termination.
A step in protein synthesis wherein the genetic code carried by mRNA is decoded to produce the specific sequence of amino acids in a polypeptide chain.
