Stimulus – change in body condition. Production Cell – an endocrine cell that produces the hormone after being affected by the stimulus. Hormone – the signaling chemical. Target Cell - the area that the hormone will have its effect. Target Cell Action – what the cell does in response to the hormone Response – the overall change in the controlled condition as a result of the feedback loop. Erythropoietin 2. a. What is the stimulus for erythropoietin production? Low blood oxygen. b. Where are the production cells for erythropoietin? Kidney cells. c. Where are the target cells for erythropoietin? Target cells in the red bone marrow that will give rise to red blood cells. d. What is the cell action and response caused by erythropoietin? Promoting increased numbers of mature red blood cells.
