Distribution of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency in various Jewish populations. B

Description
Distribution of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency in various Jewish populations. Because intermarriage with native populations is rare, the differences in frequency are attributed to selection. G6PD deficiency confers resistance to malaria, and the frequency of the allele is highest in regions where malaria is endemic.
