Third-base wobble

Description
Relaxation of complementary base pairing at the third position of a codon can reduce the number of different tRNAs required during translation. In this example, wobble base pairing allows two serine (Ser) tRNAs (left) to recognize two different codons each. Wobble permits a single isoleucine (Ile) tRNA to recognize all three isoleucine codons
