Activation Energy

Description
Most reactions, including exergonic ones such as burning wood cellulose, will not begin with-out an input of activation energy, which is shown in the graph above as a bump in a free energy hill. Reactants in this example have more energy than the products. Activation energy keeps this and other exergonic reactions from starting spontaneously.
