SlideshowReport

Sexual and asexual reproductive cells of fungi.

Description
(a) SEM (scanning electron micrograph) showing spores produced after a sexual mating, zygote formation, and subsequent meiosis in the forest mushroom Coprinus disseminatus. When mature, these genetically variable spores detach and are dispersed into the environment, where they may find suitable conditions for growth.
