A
Assault is putting the patient in fear of harm and battery is touching him without his permission or in a way that is forceful. Pushing the patient into the chair is considered battery; threatening to restrain him and leave him alone for hours is assault. False imprisonment is the restraint of a person without proper legal authorization. The patient was not restrained. This is not an example of safe nursing practice, which would require the nurse to initiate the hospital's fall precaution protocol. Restraints are applies as a last resort. Libel is a verbal or written type of character defamation.
