Follicles in the ovary is stimulated by the Follicle-stimulating hormone and so in response, it grows and secretes oestrogen. This oestrogen increases rapidly and, in turn, stimulates the growth of the uterine lining causing it to become thicker and filled with blood vessels. This rapid increase in estrogen causes a massive surge of Luteinizing hormone. This surge causes ovulation, which is the release of the ovum from the follicle. After ovulation, the follicle undergoes rapid changes and is then called a corpus luteum which secretes progesterone in response to luteinising hormone stimulation. Progesterone and oestrogen together causes a further thickening of the uterine lining preparing the uterus for pregnancy.

Hope this helps Wink Face
