The nurse should keep the child quiet and prevent the child from crying. If the oral temperature of the child is over 104F, then the child is sponged with lukewarm water, and the child's temperature is taken every 10 minutes. The nurse should not overdress the child, but dress the child in the minimum clothes for comfort.
