Modafinil does not disrupt nighttime sleep, a side effect often seen with other amphetamines.
Modafinil has a lower potential for abuse than traditional amphetamines.
Modafinil is eliminated primarily by the liver, therefore it would not be safer for patients with liver disease.
As can most amphetamines, modafinil can be prescribed for narcolepsy.
