genetics is the underying cause of ageing

My last semester I took human molecular genetics and we went over a few of the papers investigating the links between telomere length and aging. Something you may want to check out if you haven't already.
I'm not 100% for the direct correlation, but there are some very interesting observations that are evidence that it may play a role in determining the human lifespan. The problem I have is could the effects of telomere length ever be quantified into a percentage vs environmental effects. I have my doubts that could ever be achieved.
I think it's something that merits further study for sure.
