Kantians believe that a human being should never be treated as a mere thing, so they would reject slavery as being inherently immoral. Ethical relativists would disagree, because they believe that there are no moral principles that apply everywhere and always. Utilitarians would disagree, because there might be circumstances in which slavery would be a way of producing the greatest amount of good for the greatest number of people.
