What is the significance for the naming conventions of 50 states of America and their respective cities?

Example: Texas state, Austin city.

Can we have web page/s for the same in two tabular form data having columns viz State name, Naming convention and
City name, Naming convention?

I don't think there's a naming convention that each state must abide by. Some cities are named after their founders, Catholic Saints, monuments, foreign cities, etc.

Do you mean there could be some cities in USA where there could be no naming convention but still named?

I have never heard of a "naming convention" being used for any city. What brought you to this hypothesis?

No naming convention but as you mentioned cities named after celebrities, personalities, statesman, monuments etc.

Can there be cities in USA where the name is given but may not be meaningful named after the above as you mentioned?
