If knowing that the child will be affected in the future can help the parents prepare the child physically, psychologically, and financially, it may be beneficial for long-term planning for the family. However, genetic counseling is encouraged in these situations to provide the support the family needs to take the information and know how to proceed in the best interest of the child.
