A patient in cardiac arrest begins to vomit undigested food particles that are too large to be cleared away using a suction catheter. You should:
A) turn the patient on his side and sweep the material out of the airway.
B) perform CPR but do not ventilate, to avoid forcing the material into the airway.
C) perform abdominal thrusts to clear the airway.
D) suction what you can and then ventilate the patient.
