C = 5/9  (F - 32), where F stands for degrees Fahrenheit.

Part 1: Solve the formula for F. Show all steps.

-16.7 degrees Celsius. To figure this out what you need to do is C= 5/9 (2-32) then
C= 5/9 (-30)
C= 5/9 times -30
C= 16.666666666666666666666667
C= -16.7 degrees Celsius.

this guy eric is pretty much right except you have to remember that 2-32= -30 (negative 30)

Part 1:

Simple algebraic manipulation. Remember, perform the same operation to both sides. Choose the operation that is the inverse of the outermost operation on the side with f, which we are trying to get alone:

c = (5/9)(f - 32)
{ The outermost operation is "multiply by 5/9." Its inverse is "multiply by 9/5." }
(9/5)c = (9/5)(5/9)(f - 32)
{ See how the fractions cancel? That is why we choose the inverse. }
(9/5)c = f - 32
{ The outermost operation is now "subtract 32." Its inverse is "add 32." }
(9/5)c + 32 = f - 32 + 32
(9/5)c + 32 = f

Part 2: now substitute in the formula we just found:

f = (9/5)c + 32
f = (9/5) * 2 + 32
f = 18/5 + 160/5
f = 178/5
f = 35.6
