Standard Text: Select all that apply.
1. Have the patient sit on the side of the bed.

1,2,3,4 -- Prior to administering pain medication, assessment of vital signs is necessary in order to prevent a drop in blood pressure when rising from the bed to a sitting or standing position and to prevent patient falls. Have the patient sit and dangle on the side of the bed rather than move directly to a standing position in case of an orthostatic change. Use the walker for balance to prevent falls.
Don't forget to give me a thumbs up!
