Due to the lumbar vertebrae having massive vertebral bodies, they tend to carry more weight compared to the cervical and thoracic vertebrae. These factors can contribute to intervertebral disc ruptures.

On the other hand, cervical vertebrae are more delicate and have smaller vertebral bodies. These characteristics increase the possibility of easily dislocating and fracturing these set of spines.
