During the 1850s, what was Abraham Lincoln's position on slavery?
 
  a. He believed that slavery was ordained by God and legally permissible.
  b. He thought slavery was wrong but could not find any legal ways to curtail it.
  c. He thought that if slavery could not expand, it would eventually die.
  d. He called upon Congress to abolish it.
