Feedback:
The nurse should suspect alcohol dependence if the Breathalyzer level is 0.08 to 0.15 g/dL and the person does not appear to be impaired. The maximum legal level for driving varies among states, but generally is 0.08 to 0.10 g/dL. A person with a level of 0.3 g/dL will usually be vomiting and incoherent, aggressive, or in a stupor. Coma usually occurs at about 0.4 g/dL, and severe respiratory depression and death can occur at 0.5 g/dL.
