The final step in good listening is for the student to restate what she thought she heard. This action verifies the instructions were understood properly. The student should do this before applying the instructions. Questions may be appropriate, but the goal is not to ask as many questions as possible. It may or may not be necessary to confirm the instructions with the nursing instructor.
