Related to REAL Research information, a study by Coan in 2014 using MRI results showed:
 
  a. The brains of people who had frequent sex during the later years were more likely to experience irregularities.
  b. The brains of married couples reacted less to stress than the brains of cohabitating couples.
 c. There were no differences in the brain between married and single men; however, significant differences were found between brains of married and single women.
  d. Couples who had an open sexual relationship showed higher levels of brain activity than those who were in strictly monogamous relationships.
