Chronic granulomatous disease is a type of primary immunodeficiency. It is an inherited condition seen in children who have recurrent infections associated with the development of large masses of inflammatory cells in the lymph nodes, lungs, bones, and skin. It is due to the fact that neutrophils are unable to produce reactive forms of oxygen and therefore are unable to kill ingested bacteria.
