In a longitudinal study of divorce that is described in the textbook, researchers looked at the relationship between positive and negative affect expressed by spouses during the discussion of a conflictual topic and how long marriages lasted. It was found that
A) there was no relationship between the type of affect that was expressed and the length of marriage.
B) couples who had shown high levels of negative affect divorced earlier than couples who showed low levels of positive affect.
C) couples who had shown low levels of positive affect were unlikely to divorce.
