Take the Pre-med curriculum.  Chemistry- inorganic+ organic 1year; Comparative Anatomy,Embryology, Physiology; Math through at least 1 semester of Calculus; Physics-usually 1 year;
Check with your Advisor, quickly.  These are not easy courses. You HAVE to do very well in them, and need about a 3.7 GPA overall.  One "C" in a 4 hour course, and you are in trouble. The pre-med courses are background you will need, but are also intended to weed out the weaker students.  What I am saying is do not get too ambitious, especially until you get used to College life.  A word of warning:  Pretty coeds, booze, parties, football, pot,booze, pretty coeds make it hard to focus. You have to get to work right away, and study hard. The first semester kills the hopes of a lot of would-be physicians. You can have SOME social life, but only after you have done your studying.
Choose your room mate well, or live alone. Don't get involved  You have plenty of time for romance later.
Remember you are competing for one of a very few slots- our local school had 70 applicants for every slot in the Freshman class- so it is easy for the school to pick all 4.0 students if it chooses to.  There are other factors they look at , too. Outside activities, volunteering, leadership qualities, personality etc. So most schools average about a 3.7 GPA for those accepted.

aneurodoc got one thumbs down for telling it like it is.  If you don't believe him you may as well not even try for it.  You can not fool around in college and then get into medical school in this country.  What ever courses you take be sure to include the pre-requisites for medical school and then ace them all.

Sorry, but it's the truth.

The advise is totally right. You have to work really hard as a pre-med so that you can maintain a very good gpa. Each class is important and so is each exam so make sure you strive to do well on everything. Make time for some undergraduate research as well. You will need recommendations so make sure you stand out in a class of 150, which means you should not be in the last row with your headphones on. Save your notes for biology, physics, chemistry and orgo classes, they may or may not help you in mcat prep but it would be nice to have them if you did need them.
