Status epilepticus is treated in up to four steps. What is administered if the seizures are uncontrolled in 10 minutes?
A) Valium® (diazepam)—0.5–1.0 mg/kg rectally, using the IV solution per rectal tube or the diazepam gel preparation
B) Versed® (midazolam)—10 mg IM (0.15–0.3 mg/kg IM)
C) Phenobarbital—20 mg/kg IV at a maximum rate of 50–100 mg/min in the average-sized adult (~1 mg/kg/min)
D) Cerebyx® (fosphenytoin)—20 mg/kg IV at a maximum IV rate of 150 mg/min in the average-sized adult (~3 mg/kg/min)
