You are dispatched to a wooded area for a patient injured while using a chain saw. Upon your arrival you find a 26-year-old male with a cut to his right thigh. He is conscious and appears to have lost a large amount of blood. Proper treatment will include all of the following EXCEPT:
A) Splinting the extremity.
B) Replacement of fluid by giving the patient plenty of water.
C) Administration of oxygen.
D) Donning of disposable gloves and eye protection.
