Which of these questions would be most important for a nurse to ask a patient in determining whether the patient has type 1 or type 2 diabetes?
1. “Have you been urinating in greater amounts than in the past?”
2. “Have you been drinking more liquids than in the past?”
3. “Have you been hungrier than in the past?”
4. “Have you noticed any changes in your vision?”

3 - Type 1 and type 2 diabetes have similar manifestations, especially polyuria and polydipsia. Polyphagia is not often seen, and weight loss is uncommon. Other manifestations are also the result of hyperglycemia: blurred vision, fatigue, paresthesias, and skin infections.
