I am doing a cricket experiment and I will just be observing them. I know how to take care of them and what I'm going to need. I just need to know how long I should take care of them and observe. Any help is appreciated.

An experiment takes as long as it takes, whether seconds or years. You are not experimenting, you are observing. It could take decades until you observe anything worthwhile. You might want to start by deciding what it is you want to look for. Read up on crickets and decide what interests you about them. Then you can formulate a hypothesis, such as "If I lower/raise the termperature, they will chirp just as many times per minute as they do now." Then, you can design an experiment to test the hypothesis.
