NASA confirmed the existence of a new alien planet, Kepler-22b. This planet is about 600 light years away from the Earth. Doing some math, that is 36,000,000,000,000 miles.

Assuming we travel at the speed of light, how long would it take us to reach there?

LMAO you are joking right?

Do you even understand what a "light-year" is?

The answer is 600 years.  1 light-year is the distance light travels in 1 year.  Thus, 600 light-years is the distance travelled at the speed of light in 600 years.

In imperial units the speed of light is approximately 186282 miles per second.
Time t = 36,000,000,000,000 miles / 186282 miles per second = 193255387 seconds = 3220923 minutes = 53682 hours = 2237 days = 6 years.

600 years. I think that when say say light years it means it would take a year travelling at the spead of light

There are 3.52709989 × 10^15 miles in 600 light years. That's about 3,600,000,000,000,000 miles, or 3.6 quadrillion miles. Your math is a little off, OP. I would ask how long it takes to travel that distance, at the highest speed we know we can travel.

Light years is how long it takes light to travel a given distance. If the planet is 600 light years away it would take 600 years for light to travel that distance. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second.

I'm fairly certain your math is off by quite a bit. A light year is a little less than 6 trillion miles. It's 3,527,175,223,909,800 miles to Keplar 22b which is over 3 quadrillion. It would take the fastest unmanned probes (30000 miles/hour) more than 2500 years to make it there.
