Can someone please help me, please?
Q:  Compare and contrast the difference between evaluating and simplifying an algebraic expression?
All answers are helpful! But the more general the answer is,  the better...

I suppose evaluating would be actually solving it but simplifying it would be to put it in its simplest form. Most simplying problems can not be solved because the values are unknown.

umm i believ that evaluating is basically solving the equation and simplifying is more of making the answer more exact such as
3x=30 and the simplified answer being 10
hope this helps friend

Evaluating means finding the pronumeral.  So, when you get 3x=9 and say "therefore x=3," you are evaluating.

Simplifying means making the question more simple.  Often this means factorising.  So, if you have 12x+3y=5, and take out the common factor of 3 to get 3(4x+y)=5, that is simplifying.

WHEN YOU EVALUATE, YOU FIND A NUMERICLA NASWER

EG

2x + 4x= 2

you can divide through by 2, because it is an equation

if you had 2x + 4x, you CANNOT divide through by 2, otherwise the expression would have a different meaning

you can add them together to get 6x but if you divide through by 2 , your answer would be 3x which is false

Evaluating you are finding an answer that is a number by puting in another number.

f(x) = x + 4  f(4) = 8

Simplifying you're taking a complex thing and converting it to an equivalent simpler form that's easier to work with.
