Unlike the forests closer to the poles, the tropical rain forest biomes found in Central America, South America, Southeast Asia, West Africa, and other tropical regions consist of a very high number of tree species intermixed. Any given tree may be draped with vines, enveloped by strangler figs, and loaded with epiphytes, such that trees occasionally collapse under the weight of all the life they support.
