Rationale: Erythropoietin is a hormone produced in the body to stimulate production of red blood cells and synthetic forms are available for administration to cancer clients or others with significantly low red blood cell counts. Erythropoietin will not stimulate the production of platelets, white blood cells, or lymph fluid.
