The nurse caring for a client following eye surgery reports to the surgeon that the client is showing signs of ptosis (drooping eyelid). What might this finding indicate?

Feedback:
The nurse should report any paralysis of the face or on the operative side or ptosis (drooping eyelid) immediately. These findings may indicate damage to the facial nerve or the presence of edema.
