Rationale: Projecting is an ego defense mechanism whereby one places the undesirable behavior onto another. Projecting personal feelings onto the child who feels or acts in ways the nurse might have felt or acted affects the nurse's ability to respond to the child's actual therapeutic needs. The other choices are acceptable behaviors.
